    Located in the Melrose area of Daufuskie Island, these wonderful 2 bedroom/2 bath spacious cottages are truly unique in so many ways, including the two queen beds provided in each bedroom for a total of four queen beds. The cottages are located along the ocean and Calibouge Sound. Across the sound is Daufuskie's better known sister island, Hilton Head. While just one nautical mile apart, the two Islands are very different. Picture how quaint Hilton Head might have seemed decades ago and you will begin to get a sense of the beautiful country and natural charm of Daufuskie Island.



    The wide sandy beach is right there, perfect for spending wonderful days relaxing, soaking in the sun while the children play in the water and sand. Or, if you prefer, there are three pools, one being a small children's pool and a spa at the beach club. Also available is the Beach Club Restaurant, exercise room and numerous picnic tables. All of this is located on the ocean offering spectacular views. The "cottages" as they are called for their quaint exterior appearance, generate a nostalgia for when times were simpler, for here you will discover screened in porches, cart paths leading up to the front door vs. a driveway and shutters on the windows. All the cottages are one-story duplexes with each of the two units offering their own private front and back door entrances. The setting also reinforces a "cottage" feel, for all the cottages are located in a tall oak and pine grove, adding to the visual splendor of the ocean views.



    The cottages are all aligned in two rows along the ocean. The first row of cottages offers the OCEANFRONT views. The second row of cottages also offer views of the ocean, therefore these cottages have been deemed OCEAN view cottages.



    The interior of the deluxe cottages will delight and surprise you, for here you will discover updated flooring including pine and slate, remodeled open kitchens with new counter tops including granite, new appliances, updated furnishings, and in some instances, walls of updated vibrant colors. Moldings, chair rails and wainscoting add exciting charm along with nostalgic Nantucket mirrors and built in bookshelves.



    The spacious layout of each two bedroom two bath cottage is virtually identical. There is a large, open great room consisting of a living area with ornamental (non working) fireplace, sofa, island style wing chairs, and a wood dining table seating six, various end tables and prints of Daufuskie Island life a century ago, the complete kitchen and two charming bedrooms.



    The bedrooms are exceptionally large as each bedroom offers two queen beds. Thus each cottage provides a total of four queen beds, easily accommodating a sleeping capacity of eight. Each bedroom offers its own private bath. Additionally, in many of the bedrooms (not in all) you will find a T.V. with DVD. The bright colors, woodwork, mirrors and historical prints produce a charm and appeal that is distinctively Daufuskie Island. Each cottage also has its own washer and dryer.



    It is also important to point out that you will probably want to rent a four-passenger golf cart to explore the accessible areas of the island. As the demand for the golf carts can exceed the supply, it is highly, strongly recommended to reserve a golf cart for all or part of your vacation.     As a final note about your vacation to Daufuskie Island, you must make your ferry reservation in advance of your arrival.
